Why Church
It's fashionable these days to neglect, or talk down the value of the local church. We believe; however, that the church is dear to God (Acts 20:28) and is still at the center of what God wants to do in the world today (Matthew 16:18). According to the Bible, there are five purposes of the Church. They are:
- Outreach ~ God desires that His church communicate His plan for saving spiritually lost people with relevance, boldness, and compassion.
- Worship ~ God desires that His people regularly gather to praise and relate to Him in community with one another.
- Fellowship ~ God desires that his church enjoy authentic Christ-based relationships that meet spiritual and social needs, allow the body to function effectively, and proclaim that Jesus is Lord and Savior.
- Growth ~ God desires that we grow in relationship with Him. Our Bible messages, classes, programs, special meetings and other elements in our ministry all serve the goal of helping people grow and mature in their Christian life.
- Service ~ God desires that we learn what gifts He has given us in order to fulfill specific roles within His church. A primary goal of the church must be to train and equip believers to fulfill this purpose.
As we do the above 5 things we will carry out the mission of First Baptist Church of Hart: To Reach People and Enrich Lives for Jesus Christ.
